Dr. Ford Brewer, founder of PrevMed Health

I'm Ford Brewer.

I built PrevMed Health on one idea: prevention takes time, expertise, and a team that actually listens.

I'm my own Patient Zero

At 57, I discovered I had significant arterial plaque. My arterial age was 73. I had been the poster boy for a heart-healthy lifestyle. I ate well, exercised, didn't smoke. Nobody expected it — least of all me. I didn't know about my insulin resistance until it had already caused the plaque. If anyone should have known, it was me.

That was the moment everything changed. I wasn't going to be the ER doc telling patients "we'll manage this" anymore. I was the patient. And I decided to use everything I'd learned — every study, every protocol, every clinical tool — on myself.

Today my arterial age is 52. I reversed 21 years of arterial aging. I did it with the same protocol I now build for every patient who comes to PrevMed Health: advanced labs to understand the mechanism, lifestyle changes that address root causes, and medications when the evidence says they're needed.

What PrevMed Health actually does

PrevMed Health is the practice I wish had existed when I was the patient. It's built around one idea: find plaque before it causes a heart attack, and build a plan to stop it.

We're a telemedicine practice. I work with patients across the U.S. and in many countries internationally — no office visits required. We do extensive blood work and scans to look at your metabolic and arterial health. We build a protocol that's specific to your body, your life, and what your data actually shows. And we monitor it over time, because prevention isn't a one-time event.

Who we work with

Most of our patients fall into a few categories. You got a bad calcium score and your doctor didn't explain what it means. You're tired of pill-only medicine and want to understand what's actually happening in your body. You've been watching my YouTube videos and you want this level of care — not a watered-down version. You're a spouse watching someone you love decline and wondering when it's going to happen to you.

If any of that sounds familiar, this practice was built for you.

How it works

It starts with labs — either a HeartReveal panel or existing labs you've already had done. From there, we interpret what the data shows, build a protocol around your specific risk factors, and monitor the results over time. Test, adjust, test again. That's how I know my arterial age went from 73 to 52 — because I measured it repeatedly and changed what wasn't working.

We offer three clinical programs depending on how much support, monitoring, and access you need. Every program uses the same methodology. The difference is frequency, depth, and whether you work directly with Dr. Brewer.

The team

I don't do this alone. I've built a clinical team — physicians, nurse practitioners, health coaches, and support staff — all trained in my protocol and all focused on prevention. Depending on which program you choose, you'll work with different members of this team, but every patient's protocol is built on the same foundation.

Where I've been

I'm board certified in Preventive Medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. I earned my B.S. and M.D. from Charleston Southern University and my MPH from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, where I later served as full-time faculty — teaching, doing research, and running the prevention program.

I've spent most of my career trying to make prevention and primary care accessible at scale. I've been Chief Medical Officer at Toyota North America, Premise Health, The Little Clinic at Kroger, MDLIVE, and KHealth — each role focused on the same problem from a different angle: how do you get serious preventive care to more people?

I hold medical licenses in all 50 U.S. states. I've been practicing for over 40 years.

Lifestyle first. Always.

The most powerful plaque-stabilizing strategies have nothing to do with anything I can prescribe. Nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress management — these are the foundation of every protocol I build. Not as soft recommendations. As the primary intervention.

Medications are tools. I use them when the evidence says they're needed — including on myself. But a statin without a lifestyle plan is like putting a bandaid on a broken pipe. In my protocol, we fix the pipe first. Then we add medications if the data says you need them. And we respect your decision either way.

That's what separates PrevMed from the fifteen-minute appointment where your doctor hands you a prescription and says "eat healthier." I'll tell you what healthier actually looks like for your body — based on your labs, your metabolic profile, and what the evidence shows works.

We don't just apply the tools. We build new ones.

Conventional prevention medicine uses off-the-shelf labs and risk calculators that haven't meaningfully changed in decades. I didn't build PrevMed Health to apply those tools more carefully. I built it to create better tools — because the existing ones missed my own plaque, and they miss a lot of yours.

HeartReveal In market

HeartReveal is our entry-point screening — a focused lab panel built to catch what standard cholesterol misses. It pulls together advanced lipid subfractions, inflammatory markers, and metabolic signals (insulin resistance, inflammation, particle count) into one picture of what's driving plaque risk in your arteries. It's the starting point I use on myself, on every patient, and on family members I'm trying to keep out of trouble. It's a screening, not a comprehensive workup — the deeper testing happens inside a clinical program. Results come back in about a week.

Digital Twin In development

The next tool we're building is a patient-specific digital twin — a predictive model of your cardiovascular system fed by your labs, imaging, lifestyle inputs, and medication response over time. Instead of asking "what's your risk?" it asks "what will happen to your arteries if you change this one variable?" That's a different question — and the answer changes what you choose to do. We expect to bring it to our patients in the coming months.

This is the pattern: PrevMed doesn't just treat cardiovascular prevention with the tools that exist. It builds the tools it wishes existed, uses them on patients, refines them, and brings them into the practice. If you become a patient, you benefit from every tool we've built — and every tool we build next.

Free education. No paywall.

My YouTube channel has 800K+ subscribers and [FRED: video count] videos covering heart attack prevention, arterial plaque, glucose management, medications versus lifestyle, supplements, insulin resistance, and everything in between.

No paywall, no sales pitch — just science and strategy. If you've made it this far on this page, there's a good chance you found me through one of those videos. Everything I teach publicly is the same science that drives the clinical work at PrevMed Health. The videos are free because I believe everyone deserves to understand what's happening inside their body — whether or not they become a patient.

Two Starting Points. Same Goal.

Start with HeartReveal — our focused screening to find out whether plaque, insulin resistance, or inflammation is in play. Or explore a Clinical Program if you're ready for ongoing care under Dr. Brewer's Heart Health Plan. Either way, you'll know more about your cardiovascular health than you do right now.
